If you had just become king, what would be the number one thing that you would want? Power? Fame? Money and riches? Respect? Let’s read the king’s request in Psalm 72.
Psalm 72:1, 4, 12, 14, 18-19
Endow the king with your justice, O God,
the royal son with your righteousness.
May he defend the afflicted among the people
and save the children of the needy
For he will deliver the needy who cry out,
the afflicted who have no one to help
He will rescue them from oppression and violence
Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel,
who alone does marvelous deeds.
Praise be to his glorious name forever;
may the whole earth be filled with his glory.
Amen and Amen.
In Psalm 72, the first two things that the king requests are justice and righteousness. This is the heartbeat of Good News International Ministries. We, too, pray for God’s justice and righteousness to be spread across the world.
The following verses echo our prayers for those who are impoverished, oppressed, or vulnerable. We want God to defend them, save them, deliver them and rescue them. Above all, we pray for individual and community transformation that can only come through the gospel of Christ!
What an appropriate conclusion to give all praise, honour and glory to the Lord. Praise you, our Lord. May the earth be filled with your glory!
