What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors send comments utilizing the Contact Form on the site (to info@gniministries.ca) we may collect the data shown in the comments form for followup purposes only with any queries made. If you have an inquiry about partnership, we may keep that information for our records, whether or not any formal partnership is agreed to. If you subscribe to our newsletters, we will retain your information (name and email) for proof of consent as required by law. If you are inquiring about serving with our organization, we will retain records of applications made for such purposes.

Children’s Privacy. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The children written about in this website will be protected to the best of our ability from personal exploitation and photos will be disguised to protect the innocent.

Media

Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website. We do our best to protect all children connected to our ministry and will not purposefully divulge any information that could lead to exploitation. If we learn of anyone willfully misusing our content, we will report such activity to the appropriate authorities.

Cookies

Currently, we do not permit visitor comments as our capacity is too limited to be able to respond. In the future, this policy may change, subject to our decision to implement such changes. In such a case, the following “Cookies” policy will be in place.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

Who we share your data with

In case logins of visitors are permitted, if you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

We retain information that we collect from you (including your PD) only for as long as we need it for legal, business, or tax purposes. Your information may be retained in electronic form, paper form, or a combination of both. When your information is no longer needed, we will destroy, delete, or erase it.

If you email us through the ‘info@gniministries.ca” link, we will keep such information only as long as it may be deemed necessary by GNIM. Only if we change our policy and allow you to comment on articles and on our site, if you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Use of your Credit Card

You may have to provide a credit card to make a donation on our website. We use third-party payment processors and have no control over these services. We use reasonable efforts to make sure your credit card number is kept strictly confidential by using only third-party payment processors that use industry- standard encryption technology to protect your credit card number from unauthorized use. However, you understand and agree that we are in no way responsible for any misuse of your credit card number.

Where we send your data

Should we open up this pathway, visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
