When Covid19 came to Canada, people descended upon the grocery stores and bought every package of toilet paper, bag of flour, jar of yeast and box of noodles. In Manitoba, people from the cities went to the small rural towns to buy up these products. There seemed to be a bit of mass hysteria as people stocked up and hoarded what they deemed as “essential.”
Compare this to Myanmar where villages were shut down and no traffic was allowed in or out of villages or the country. Food was scarce and there weren’t many options for getting more. We were concerned for our ministry partner who is caring for 25 children. Then we got word that Steve and April are so concerned about their neighbours that whatever they had, they divided to make little packages of rice and food to distribute among their neighbours. Those who have little share much! We can learn so much from them as they share their story together with this word of encouragement from Psalm 34:8-10:
Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
Fear the Lord, you his holy people,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
Now we continue to request your prayers for this nation as they not only battle Covid but deal with a new reality due to a military coup. This causes much fear in the nation. Pray that the Bride and all these ministries continue to take refuge in God, lacking no good thing.
