An update from Rob and Amber on their recent trip to Thailand
Moving Forward
The main focus of our trip was to help our partners engage more deeply with our mission focus: “Gospel driven prevention of human trafficking.” With our partners in full agreement, we aim to:
- Prioritize Gospel driven strengthening of vulnerable families in communities with a high risk of human trafficking.
- Provide care for vetted children, especially orphans, who may be at risk of human trafficking and do not have family support.
Our partners are totally on board with this and we look forward to developing this further.
One big surprise came on March 28. While we were in a meeting with J&A, we experienced a significant earthquake that caused heavy destruction in Myanmar. In Bangkok a 30 story tower collapsed, crushing many workers. We praise God that, even though it was a powerful quake, all the children in our partnerships are safe. Even so, there was a significant loss of life, especially in central Myanmar. We know how God used an earthquake to help launch the early church in Europe (see Acts 16). Pray that this tragic event will also help bring God’s love in a powerful way to war-torn Myanmar.
Amber summed up how she felt about returning to Thailand: “Overall this was a very encouraging trip. I am currently praying about the possibility of going back for a couple of months in the fall. I’d love to help our partners find ways to become more sustainable while continuing to do what I believe God has been calling me to do for around 7 years.”
