Counter, Catalyze and Connect

by Traci Johnston / On April 27, 2020Posted in Blogs, Uncategorized

We are excited that God has shown us a clear path forward for our ministry: to bring a fresh message of Godly purity to the nations. Our way forward in bringing the Good News of Jesus to the poor & oppressed involves three action verbs: counter, catalyze and connect.

Meet our missions partner, PIA! Pia is passionat Meet our missions partner, PIA!

Pia is passionate about seeing people know the love of Jesus! She has served with GNI Ministries for 4 years, as a native Thai missionary reaching the marginalized Moken Sea Gypsy people on the Andaman Sea coastline of South-Western Thailand. The Moken Sea Gypsies are a nomadic people found in Southern Myanmar and Southern Thailand. Though not a large people group at 2100, only 0.3% are listed at Christian. Pia doesn't hesitate to love on the lost, the broken, to share hope with them and encourage them that although they might be a small group, they are seen, heard and known by our Heavenly Father!

In less than a month, we will be in Thailand! We In less than a month, we will be in Thailand!

We are always excited to head back to a country that feels like another home away from home, to see the kids whose lives have been impacted through GNI and to reconnect with our mission partners there!

Would you pray for us as we go? Pray for:
- Safety as we travel.
- Great connections with our faithful ministry partners.
- Wisdom to navigate challenging situations.
- Knowledge in knowing what opportunities to pursue.

We are grateful for you and couldn't do what we do without your support!
I don't know about you, but I often find it hard t I don't know about you, but I often find it hard to walk by faith, let alone build by faith!

Not that long ago, the need for a boys dorm for Uncountable Grace was first and foremost in our minds, and in the minds of S&A - our partners in Myanmar. S told us that he believed a boys dorm needed to happen and starting building - the timing was right (dry season) and the need was great (boys needing separate accommodations as they mature). S had no doubt that the funding for it would come through.

Through some "God Events," a generous friend offered to fund 75% of the building project! S was able to purchase materials needed and move ahead with the construction way before we anticipated we would be able to raise the funds for him!

What a blessing to have partners that believe in the power of prayer, who walk by faith and now are building a dorm as a result!
40 days - 40 hours - 40 participants. Judy is the 40 days - 40 hours - 40 participants.

Judy is the lovely wife of GNI's President, Rob. She brings a huge part of the passion and heart to the ministry. Judy has struggled with CRPS the last few years, and one of the major ways she combats it is through staying active.

Remember last years half marathon? Judy isn't one to shy away from a challenge, even if it's hard or painful!

She said " I need to keep moving and sustain a cardio type of exercise each day in order to lower my pain levels, as well as stimulate neuron growth. My goal is to swim for 1 hour for 40 days and log my distance. People can sponsor me per km for $1, $2 or whatever their coffee cost that day! Before leaving for Thailand, (early February) I want to swim at least 40 km. I thought it would be encouraging to have 40 people join me in their own MOVE goal for 40 days of this new year of 2023!"

If you are interested in joining Judy in her challenge, either by donating or by MOVING with her, please send us a message, contact us on the website or comment on this post! Lets MOVE together toward the goal of seeing lives saved from human trafficking!
Today is World Trafficking Awareness Day. I think Today is World Trafficking Awareness Day.

I think one of the key parts to stopping human trafficking is awareness - when people are made aware - and acknowledge - what trafficking is and what it looks like, along with its affects, people are often moved to help impact change.

So what does this look like? Not everyone can or should pack up and go fight trafficking on the "front lines." Not everyone can give funds to the projects needed to help combat dangerous situations.

What can you do? Research what trafficking is, and be open to having conversations about how it impacts lives, people, families, economy, industry, women, men, and children.

We would love to be the ones to have that conversation with you! Be sure to check out our website or send a message if you want to continue the conversation.

Are you a "New Years Resolution" kind of person? W Are you a "New Years Resolution" kind of person? What kind of things do you want to see happen in 2023?

This year, we have big goals and plans. We would love to see a boys dormitory built as soon as possible for Uncountable Grace. There are multiple new ministry opportunities that we are in prayerful consideration of. Seeing complete funding come in for all the kids at Uncountable Grace would be an incredible blessing, to them and us.

As you consider what you would like to see happen in your life this year, would you think about supporting our partners in Thailand and Myanmar? Maybe this year, 2023, can be the year you resolve to look past what you can see and trust that supporting GNIM changes lives overseas in an incredible way.

This year has seen some incredible challenges and This year has seen some incredible challenges and victories. We want to take time to thank every one of you who has been involved with GNIM this year, whether it's been through funding, checking in on us or supporting us and our partners in prayer.

We are excited at new ministry prospects in the coming year and to see the lives of the poor and oppressed changed through the transformative work of Jesus!

Without Christmas, we wouldn't be able to do what Without Christmas, we wouldn't be able to do what we do.

GNIM believes in the transformation of communities, of people, through the good news of Jesus Christ. Without Christmas, we wouldn't have hope, grace or the gospel to share with the poor and oppressed. Because of Jesus, lives are being changed and set free.

Merry Christmas - may this season bring you joy, peace and knowledge of the hope we have through Jesus!
"We love these kids! If they come to us needing he "We love these kids! If they come to us needing help, we can not turn them away."

I laughed recently when another GNIM board member told me a story about how S&A (Uncountable Grace) approached him saying "Can we take in kids who need help?" Uncountable Grace was in it's beginning stages and S&A had recently rescued their first child. The board member mentioned to me that he gave S&A the "okay" to start looking for kids who were at risk. It didn't take long before S&A contacted GNIM saying "We have 25 kids!" This board member expected one or two more children to be added initially, not 25 at a time!

That is a prime example of the hearts S&A have for vulnerable children. They welcome them in and care for them like their own. These children are shown love, care, compassion and healing, all while participating in normal family responsibilities and activities. Our partners are truly a gift and we are excited to see where the next step in their journey takes them.

If you are interested in partnering with us to support Uncountable Grace (S&A), please visit our website or send us a message! We would love to have you join our ever growing GNIM family!
Blueprints always take projects from idea to reali Blueprints always take projects from idea to reality!

Our partners S&A with Uncountable Grace recently sent us this sketch of what they hope the new boys dorm will look like. S has a wide knowledge of construction and is ready to get to work to build the boys in the home their own dormitory, as well as a washroom space.

Will you help us make this happen? We need to raise $16,000 CAD in order to be able to get this building built. We know it can happen and are excited to see the boys in their own space!

Please send us a message or visit our website if you're interested in helping us give these boys a new home!
It's hard to fathom selling your child in exchange It's hard to fathom selling your child in exchange for drugs.

Yet, that's what happens in Thailand.

Drug and Alchohol abuse is one of the main causes of human trafficking in Northern Thailand. Generations of abuse continues to rampage families, leaving the children at risk of being exploited, vulnerable and alone. Often, children are left to fend for themselves after one or both parents pass away from overdosing.

Our partners, S&A are working hard to ensure that every child has a home and an opportunity to grow in a loving, safe family environment. For just over $100/month per child, they provide shelter, clothing, food and education to kids who are escaping the cycle of poverty, abuse and exploitation.

If you're interested in learning more or want to donate to help Uncountable Grace continue their ministry, please visit our website. Help us give these children hope.
Having an identity and knowing who you are is so i Having an identity and knowing who you are is so important for normal growth and devolopment.

We are priviledged in North America to have identity given to us through family, history, culture and even the government through ID that is standard issue to every child born.

That's not always the case.

Our partner, Pia, works with Moking Sea People in South Eastern Thailand. Because these people are Gypsys, they are unrecognized by the Thai government. Their issued ID is a bunch of zero's, no different from the next person beside them.

This leads to all sorts of issues when it comes to trying to go to school, get a job, apply for Visa's or even more basic daily needs. One of Pia's main goals is to show these people they are loved and cherished for who they are, as Sea gypsys,, as people.

1 out of every 150 people. That's how many people 1 out of every 150 people.

That's how many people are victims of human trafficking.

Today is #HumanRightsDay Every man, woman and child deserves to have a voice, to be heard, loved and seen, not abused and taken advantage of.

GNIM is full of people who have hearts for those who are hurting and lost - especially those who have been victims of human trafficking.

Stand up for human rights. Be vocal about the need to stop trafficking. Share the posts. Donate to the causes. Fight for justice, equality and safety. Every person is valued - how will you show it?

GNIM was founded in 1989 by a Canadian Christian & GNIM was founded in 1989 by a Canadian Christian & Missionary Alliance missionary named Jim Sawatsky. Jim and his leadership team formed GNIM to be trans-denominational in scope and able to minister in any third-world context.

The baton was handed over in November 2013, with Rob Griffioen as president and a new board of directors taking lead. Going into a full restart, the outreach focus is now on South East Asia.

GNI Ministries brings the Good News of Jesus Christ to the poor and oppressed in a variety of ways (including compassion ministry and proclamation of the gospel through various means). Countering human trafficking in South East Asia is our current field of ministry. Our primary purpose is to equip indigenous leadership to be the front-runners in this cause, as seen through our main ministry, Uncountable Grace, which operates as a safe home to over 20 children who would otherwise be at risk of being trafficked. It is run by Burmese Nationals who have partnered with us in seeing lives changed!

Today is Giving Tuesday - a day meant to encourage Today is Giving Tuesday - a day meant to encourage people to think outside of the box, past themselves and look for ways they can give back.

We have two big asks this Giving Tuesday!

Would you consider partnering with us as a monthly supporter? We are currently in need of consistent donations in order to continue sending the kids at Uncountable Grace to school, to clothe and feed them. Any regularly donated amount makes a huge difference in these kids lives.

Second, we have the opportunity to raise funds to build a seperate dormitory and washroom facility for the boys at Uncountable Grace - the cost is $16,000. Would you consider a one time donation to this special project?

Links to the donation forms can be found at the top of our page, or on our website. Please consider giving this Tuesday and changing the lives of these kids in Myanmar!
I don't know about you, but if I had to have 25 ki I don't know about you, but if I had to have 25 kids in my current home, I would be looking to expand!

We have an opportunity to build separate quarters for the boys at Uncountable Grace, our safe home ministry in Myanmar. Up till now, all the kids and caretakers have been living in one building. As the children mature, they need a separate living space.

The 600 square foot boys’ dormitory, with a separate washroom facility, will cost around $16,000 CAD to build - this is above and beyond what we send monthly for their living expenses.

Would you consider donating to Uncountable Grace's special building project? Click our link at the top of the page to learn more about how your donation could impact these boys across the world!

We've all heard the term "having faith like a must We've all heard the term "having faith like a mustard seed," but what about "faith as big as a jackfruit?"

GNI has a trusted, long term relationship with S&A, Myanmar (Burmese) national workers. Despite political unrest, they are living in hope and having "big faith" that God will provide for their ministry needs and that God will help them reach their troubled region for Jesus.

One of the ways they actively live out their faith is by running a safe home for over 20 kids, called Uncountable Grace. They rely on our support to maintain housing, clothing, education and other needs for children who would otherwise be at risk.

Next week, there will be an opportunity to support Uncountable Grace, through Giving Tuesday - join with us in helping this ministry continue to thrive. Will you step out in faith to see this happen?

A child growing up in a safe environment should be A child growing up in a safe environment should be the norm, not the exception.

Good News International Ministries currently provides refuge and education for 25 vulnerable children in our Uncountable Grace home, run by Burmese nationals in Myanmar. $150 a month provides full refuge, including: food, housing, clothing and education for one child, all under godly leadership.

Without this provision, these children could be at high risk of human trafficking or being forced to become child soldiers. The life change opportunity is great, but we can’t do it alone.

Would you partner with us to see lives changed, to empower freedom? Click the link at the top of the page to learn more about how you can transform childrens lives through a monthly donation.

For 20+ kids in Myanmar, the walk to school is a joy and a blessing! Thanks to monthly donors, GNI is able to help send these kids to school, high school and even university!

Education is a gift - one that will keep these at risk children out of highly dangerous situations.
